Security Automation Toolkit

A sample outline for a defensive automation project centered on safe defaults and operator clarity.

Sample content: This is not a claim of a delivered security product or engagement.

Objective

Explain a narrow defensive task that needed to become safer, faster, or more repeatable. State who operated the workflow and what actions could have caused harm.

Design

Document input validation, dry-run behavior, least privilege, secrets handling, audit logs, and failure recovery. Make dangerous operations explicit and require review at the right boundary.

Lessons

Describe what the automation did not attempt to solve. For operational tools, predictable behavior and a clear escape hatch often matter more than feature count.
